Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier has reportedly been flagged in a federal investigation into an illegal sports betting scheme, according to The Wall Street Journal. However, Associated Press reporter Tim Reynolds clarified that Rozier has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
The investigation centers around a 2023 game when Rozier played for the Charlotte Hornets. Prosecutors reportedly uncovered heavy betting activity against Rozier during the Hornets’ 115-96 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on March 23, 2023. In that game, Rozier logged just 10 minutes before exiting with a sore right foot, finishing with five points, four rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
As of publication, neither Rozier nor the Miami Heat had issued a statement regarding the report.
Rozier’s Role in Inquiry Remains Unclear
While federal prosecutors have flagged Rozier’s name, there has been no official indication that he engaged in any improper activity. The report suggests his inclusion is part of a broader government investigation into illegal sports gambling, which has already resulted in severe consequences for other NBA players.
