Jhonkensy Noel’s Stunning Game-Tying Homer Lifts Guardians Over Yankees in ALCS Game 3

SportsJhonkensy Noel's Stunning Game-Tying Homer Lifts Guardians Over Yankees in ALCS Game 3

In a game filled with high-stakes moments, it was Jhonkensy Noel’s game-tying home run that stole the spotlight in the Cleveland Guardians’ 7-6 victory over the New York Yankees in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS). The unexpected swing from Noel electrified the home crowd, shifting the momentum and setting the stage for a crucial win that puts the Guardians ahead in the series, 2-1.

Noel’s pivotal moment came in the eighth inning, with the Guardians trailing 6-5. Facing Yankees reliever Michael King, Noel took a 2-2 fastball deep into the left-field stands, bringing Progressive Field to its feet. “I was just looking for a pitch I could drive, and I got it,” Noel said after the game. “It felt incredible to come through for my team in that moment.”

The dramatic shot not only tied the game but also broke through the Yankees’ bullpen, which had been solid throughout the series. Noel’s heroics were followed by a decisive ninth inning, where the Guardians capitalized on a bases-loaded situation to score the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Steven Kwan.

The Yankees, who had built an early 4-0 lead with home runs from Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres, now face an uphill battle in the series. Despite their offensive surge, the Yankees struggled to maintain their lead, with their bullpen faltering in the game’s final frames.

“We had control early, but they just kept fighting back,” said Yankees manager Aaron Boone. “Noel’s homer was a real momentum-changer.”

The Guardians’ bullpen also deserves credit, as they held the Yankees scoreless after the sixth inning. Closer Emmanuel Clase sealed the win with a perfect ninth inning, striking out two and allowing no hits.

With the win, the Guardians are now just one game away from advancing to the World Series. Game 4 will be crucial for both teams, as the Yankees look to stay alive and force a Game 5 while the Guardians aim to close out the series in front of their home crowd.
