Aaron Rodgers Sets Unwanted NFL Record as Jets Fall to Bills

SportsAaron Rodgers Sets Unwanted NFL Record as Jets Fall to Bills

Aaron Rodgers, a future Hall of Famer and the New York Jets’ star quarterback, endured a night to forget as the team was routed by the Buffalo Bills in a crushing 38-10 defeat. While Rodgers had hoped to celebrate his 500th career touchdown pass, the game instead saw him set a dubious NFL record.

Rodgers, who returned to action after an extended injury layoff earlier this season, threw three interceptions in the first half—a personal career low point. With those picks, he officially surpassed the league record for most interceptions thrown in a single season by a quarterback with over 500 career touchdown passes.

“It’s frustrating, no doubt about it,” Rodgers said after the game. “I came in expecting to hit a milestone, and instead, I hit a wall. It’s not how I envisioned the night going.”

The Buffalo Bills’ defense dominated from the opening whistle, forcing Rodgers into poor decisions and capitalizing on every mistake. Bills safety Jordan Poyer and cornerback Tre’Davious White each nabbed interceptions, while linebacker Matt Milano added another, returning it 35 yards to set up a touchdown.

Despite the lopsided score, Rodgers found a bright spot with a late-game 7-yard touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson, bringing him within one score of the coveted 500-touchdown mark. “Garrett is a special talent,” Rodgers remarked. “If there’s anything to build on tonight, it’s the chemistry we’re developing.”

Meanwhile, the Bills capitalized on the Jets’ struggles to secure a dominant win. Quarterback Josh Allen threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns, including a 54-yard strike to Stefon Diggs. Running back James Cook added 95 yards and a touchdown on the ground, further emphasizing Buffalo’s offensive dominance.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh admitted the performance was disappointing but remained optimistic about Rodgers’ future. “Aaron’s legacy speaks for itself,” Saleh said. “One game, one record—it doesn’t define his career or what he brings to this team.”

The loss drops the Jets to a 6-10 record, officially eliminating them from playoff contention. For Rodgers, the 500th touchdown remains an elusive target heading into the final game of the season. Despite the setback, the quarterback emphasized his commitment to finishing strong.

“I’ve faced challenges before, and I’ll face them again,” Rodgers said. “It’s all part of the journey, and I’m not going to let this define me or our team.”

The Bills’ win improves their record to 11-5, cementing their place as a top contender in the AFC. Head coach Sean McDermott praised his team’s effort, particularly on defense. “Our guys came out hungry tonight, and it showed,” McDermott said. “We know what’s at stake, and we’re playing our best football when it matters most.”

As the Jets look to regroup, Rodgers remains one of the most scrutinized figures in the league. With one game left in the season, all eyes will be on whether he can reach the 500-touchdown milestone and finish the year on a high note.
