2024 College Football Week 4: Triple-Header Features Service Academy Showdowns

Sports2024 College Football Week 4: Triple-Header Features Service Academy Showdowns

Week 4 of the 2024 college football season features a thrilling triple-header. The action starts with Army taking on Rice at noon, with both teams looking to strengthen their positions in the American Athletic Conference (AAC). Army remains tied with Navy after a win over FAU, while Rice is set for its first conference game of the season.

At 3:30 p.m., Navy faces Memphis, an undefeated Midshipmen squad looking to maintain their momentum, while Memphis eyes a spot in the AAC championship.

To cap off the day, FAU travels to UConn in search of its first win against an FBS opponent. Both teams have struggled early on, with UConn facing two Power Four opponents in their opening games.

Spread: Army -5.5 | Will the Black Knights cover?

Army was off last week, which means it’s played a lighter schedule thus far than most teams around the nation. But that hasn’t stopped the Black Knights from taking care of business. They won their first two games by an average of 26 points and have only allowed two offensive touchdowns in two games thus far. Rice’s season hasn’t gone as well thus far. The Owls’ only win in three games came against FCS Texas Southern. They have scored 21 total points against FBS competition otherwise.

Memphis at Navy

Date: Saturday, Sept. 21 | Time: 3:30 p.m.
Location: Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium  — Annapolis, Maryland
TV: CBS Sports Network [Channel finder

Spread: Memphis -9.5 | Will the Tigers cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 4 projections here

Memphis is one of the hottest teams in the country after its road win against Florida State. The Tigers cleared arguably their biggest remaining hurdle and are now considered a legitimate College Football Playoff competitor. But they certainly can’t afford to overlook Navy. The Tigers beat the Midshipmen by just four points at home last season, and Navy is off to a nice start of its own with 20-plus-point wins against Bucknell and Temple

FAU at UConn

Date: Saturday, Sept. 21 | Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field — East Hartford, Connecticut
TV: CBS Sports Network [Channel finder
Live stream: CBSSports.com | Mobile: CBS Sports App (Free)
Spread: UConn -2.5 | Will the Huskies cover?

UConn came painfully close to a huge win last week as the Huskies went on the road and fell 26-21 to Duke. But Duke held UConn scoreless for almost 12-straight minutes in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Still, it should give the Huskies some confidence as they turn their eyes towards a more manageable game against FAU. The Owls had their own close scrape with a power conference team in Week 1 with a narrow 16-10 loss against Michigan State.
