According to witnesses, Israeli fans were ambushed near the stadium and in several areas around the city, as tension surged amid recent escalations in the Middle East. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded swiftly, ordering Israeli airline El Al to send planes to help evacuate affected citizens from the Netherlands.
