Lagos, Nigeria — A United Airlines flight bound for Washington Dulles International Airport was forced to make an emergency landing back in Nigeria on Friday, January 24, after experiencing severe turbulence and technical issues mid-flight.
The Boeing 777 departed from Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport but encountered unexpected movement roughly two hours into the journey. The incident caused sharp drops in altitude and speed, leaving six passengers with serious injuries, according to airline officials.
