Fast NewsTiger and Charlie Woods Fall Short in PNC Championship Playoff as Langers Triumph

Tiger Woods and his son Charlie, delivered a memorable performance at the 2024 PNC Championship, but it was Bernhard Langer and his son, Jason, who claimed victory in a nail-biting playoff on December 22. The elder Langer drained a clutch birdie putt on the first playoff hole to secure the family’s first PNC Championship title at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.

The Woods duo came close to clinching the title during regulation, finishing with an impressive 62, highlighted by Charlie’s first-ever hole-in-one on the par-3 14th. The young prodigy’s ace electrified the crowd and added to the Woods family’s legacy at the tournament. Despite their strong performance, they found themselves tied with the Langers, who carded a bogey-free round to force the playoff.

In the playoff, both pairs displayed exceptional composure. After Jason Langer set up an opportunity with a precise approach shot, Bernhard sealed the deal with a 12-foot birdie putt, eliciting a roar from the crowd. The Woods duo was unable to match the Langers’ birdie, settling for the runner-up spot.

“Credit to Bernhard and Jason—they played fantastic golf all weekend,” Tiger Woods said. “It’s always a privilege to compete alongside Charlie, and this week was another special experience for us.”

Charlie, who impressed with his poise and skill, reflected on the tournament with optimism. “The hole-in-one was definitely a highlight, but playing in a playoff against legends like the Langers was incredible. I learned so much this week,” he said.

The victory adds another accolade to Bernhard Langer’s illustrious career. At 67, the two-time Masters champion continues to defy age, combining his experience with his son Jason’s rising talent to form a formidable pairing. “This win means a lot to us as a family,” Langer said. “Playing with Jason and sharing this moment is something I’ll treasure forever.”

The Woods family, meanwhile, continues to be a fan favorite at the PNC Championship, where Tiger has showcased his father-son partnership with Charlie since 2020. The duo’s camaraderie and competitive spirit remain a highlight of the event, drawing immense attention from golf fans worldwide.

The PNC Championship, which pairs legendary golfers with family members, has become a celebration of the sport’s generational connections. This year’s edition featured another stellar lineup, including Justin Thomas and his father, Mike, as well as defending champions Vijay and Qass Singh.

As the 2024 season progresses, Tiger Woods continues his journey of balancing competitive play with mentoring Charlie’s budding golf career. The duo’s near-victory in Orlando was a testament to their shared passion and relentless pursuit of excellence.
