Pete Carroll Joins Las Vegas Raiders on Three-Year Deal

Fast NewsPete Carroll Joins Las Vegas Raiders on Three-Year Deal

In a major move for the Las Vegas Raiders, the team has reached an agreement with Pete Carroll to become their next head coach. Sources confirmed that the deal is a three-year contract with a team option for a fourth year, marking a new era for the franchise. Carroll, 74, brings a wealth of experience to a team in search of stability and leadership.

Carroll, who has made a name for himself in both college and professional football, is one of the few head coaches to have won both a college football national championship and a Super Bowl. He joins an elite group that includes Barry Switzer, Jimmy Johnson, and Jim Harbaugh. With the Raiders, he will continue to build on his impressive legacy as he transitions from his long tenure with the Seattle Seahawks.

The move comes as the Raiders aim to find long-term success after a tumultuous period of turnover at the head coach position. Since relocating from Oakland to Las Vegas in 2020, the franchise has cycled through five head coaches, including interim appointments. Among them were Jon Gruden, Rich Bisaccia, Josh McDaniels, and Antonio Pierce.

Carroll’s hiring marks the team’s ninth head coach since Mark Davis took over ownership of the Raiders following the death of his father, Al Davis, in 2011. His arrival signals a shift towards consistency, with the Raiders hoping to capitalize on his leadership and experience.

The Raiders have faced a series of challenges in recent years, most notably the resignation of Jon Gruden in 2021 after controversy surrounding his past emails. The franchise has been seeking a coach who can bring both success on the field and stability to a team in need of direction.

As Carroll takes the reins, his track record will be under scrutiny as he looks to revitalize the Raiders and bring them back to prominence in the competitive AFC West division.
