Man City Rout Nottingham Forest 3-0 to Snap Losing Streak

Fast NewsMan City Rout Nottingham Forest 3-0 to Snap Losing Streak

Manchester City ended their four-game Premier League losing streak in commanding fashion with a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday. Kevin De Bruyne made a triumphant return to the starting lineup, playing a pivotal role with a goal and an assist in his first start since recovering from an abdominal injury.

Early Breakthrough

City wasted no time asserting their dominance. In the 8th minute, De Bruyne headed a ball towards goal, which Bernardo Silva turned into the net from close range. The early strike eased tensions for Pep Guardiola’s side, who had struggled to find form in recent weeks.

“We needed it—the club, the players, everyone needed to win,” Guardiola said after the match. “The most important thing was to break this routine of not winning games, and finally we did.”

De Bruyne’s Masterclass

The Belgian maestro doubled City’s lead in the 31st minute, capitalizing on a pass from Jeremy Doku and rifling a precise shot into the net from just inside the penalty area. The goal underscored his importance to Guardiola’s system, with the crowd chanting his name throughout the match.

Jeremy Doku, one of City’s standout performers this season, added the third goal in the 57th minute. The winger latched onto a pinpoint long ball from Erling Haaland, dribbled past a defender, and unleashed a powerful shot into the far corner.

Forest’s Missed Chances

Nottingham Forest had opportunities to make an impact but failed to capitalize. Chris Wood missed a golden chance to equalize when he found himself one-on-one with City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega but sent his shot wide. That miss proved costly as De Bruyne scored moments later, widening the gap.

Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White also came close early in the match, but Ortega, starting ahead of Ederson for the second consecutive game, made a brilliant diving save to deny the effort.

De Bruyne Leads by Example

De Bruyne, wearing the captain’s armband amid speculation about a strained relationship with Guardiola, silenced any doubts about his commitment. The 33-year-old delivered a complete performance, earning praise from his manager.

“He played really good,” Guardiola said. “Defensively, he helped us a lot. He’s an incredible person. What he’s done these years with us has been outstanding. Maybe he can’t play every three days, but hopefully, he can help us.”

City Back on Track

The win lifted Manchester City to fourth place in the Premier League table, while Forest dropped to seventh. The victory also ended City’s seven-match winless run across all competitions, providing a crucial boost as they look to regain momentum in their title defense.
