Lions’ Khalil Dorsey Suffers Ankle Injury; Titans Bench Will Levis Amid Turnover Struggles

Fast NewsLions’ Khalil Dorsey Suffers Ankle Injury; Titans Bench Will Levis Amid Turnover Struggles

In a tough Sunday for the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans, cornerback Khalil Dorsey was carted off the field with an ankle injury, while Titans quarterback Will Levis faced a pivotal moment in his rookie season after being benched during a 37-27 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Khalil Dorsey Ruled Out with Ankle Injury

The Lions faced a setback as Khalil Dorsey left the game after sustaining an ankle injury during the second quarter. Dorsey was carted off the field and did not return, leaving Detroit to make adjustments in their defensive backfield. The extent of his injury remains unclear, but early reports suggest it could sideline the cornerback for an extended period.

Dorsey’s absence could have significant implications for the Lions as they continue their push for a postseason berth. Known for his speed and versatility, Dorsey had been a key contributor in special teams and the Lions’ secondary.

Titans Bench Will Levis After Rough Outing

Meanwhile, in Tennessee, the Titans faced quarterback controversy as rookie Will Levis was benched in the third quarter after a performance marred by turnovers. Levis threw three interceptions, including a 40-yard pick-six by Bengals safety Geno Stone, who read Levis’ eyes on a play-action attempt and capitalized to extend Cincinnati’s lead to 31-14.

Levis also fumbled earlier in the game, accounting for four of Tennessee’s six turnovers on the day. His struggles came after leading the Titans to touchdowns on their first two drives, but momentum quickly shifted as the Bengals’ defense took control.

Levis finished the game completing 8 of 12 passes for 89 yards with three interceptions and a lost fumble. Veteran Mason Rudolph stepped in to relieve him, throwing for 209 yards on 21 of 26 attempts with two touchdowns and one interception.

Bengals’ Defense Dominates

The Bengals’ defensive effort was led by cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, who added an interception against Rudolph, and safety Geno Stone’s decisive pick-six. Cincinnati forced six turnovers, four of which were directly tied to Levis’ mistakes.

With this performance, Levis now leads the NFL in interceptions returned for touchdowns, with four on the season. His nine total interceptions rank as the sixth most in the league heading into Week 15.

Titans’ Quarterback Questions Persist

The Titans had hoped to build a strong roster around Levis this season to evaluate his potential as their franchise quarterback. However, his inconsistency has raised doubts about his long-term role. Levis had previously missed time due to a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder, which allowed Rudolph to gain experience earlier this year.

Despite flashes of brilliance in his rookie campaign, Levis’ turnover woes have become a critical concern for the Titans. Head coach Mike Vrabel said in his post-game remarks, “Will has a lot of talent, but he has to protect the football better. We’ll evaluate where we go from here.”

The Titans’ next matchup will be crucial as they attempt to stay in contention for a playoff spot while addressing their quarterback situation.
