Death: TUDN Sports Journalist André Marín Passes Away at 52!

Fast NewsDeath: TUDN Sports Journalist André Marín Passes Away at 52!

On the morning of September 16, David Faitelson confirmed the death of André Marín, the sports journalist of TUDN at the age of 52 , who a few months ago had to abandon his participation in the different analysis spaces of the Liga MX due to health problems.

André Marín had faced a series of illnesses that caused his health to deteriorate; in 2020, prior to the health emergency caused by Covid-19, the sports journalist was infected with a bacteria called Clostridium Difficile , which causes diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight loss, and fever. This same bacteria caused the deterioration of practically all of the lung tissue, according to David Faitelson , and it was on September 8 when it was reported that he had undergone surgery for a double lung transplant , a procedure that had gone well.

However, André Marín’s condition remained critical and he remained in the hospital, away from the spotlight. His colleagues at the Televisa-Univision television network announced that the cause of his death was related to complications in his recovery after the surgery he had undergone a little less than two weeks ago.

“Today is a truly sad day for all of us who work at MVS at this station. André Marín passed away at the age of 52, this morning. He fought until the end against an illness that had been getting worse since the days of the pandemic. He was out, they gave him a lung transplant at the end because he kept fighting and fighting, but he ended up defeated by a terrible illness . May he rest in peace,” was how David Faitelson reported the death of his colleague.

André Marín narrated his constant struggle against his illnesses

Since the diagnosis of infection with the Clostridium Difficile bacteria was confirmed , the experienced sports commentator presented different health complications that forced him to step away from his profession until he ended up in the hospital due to his delicate condition, although in his worst years the journalist had managed to move forward.

In 2022, he said that he was between life and death when, due to the deterioration of his lungs, he contracted three types of pneumonia , including the pneumococcus bacteria. This episode led to him being hospitalized for 45 days in the hospital with respiratory support .

André Marín said that at the beginning of 2022 his “stomach exploded” due to diverticula , a condition that consists of the appearance of sacs that become inflamed in the digestive tract, which if they burst could cause infections.

Because of the diverticula, he had to undergo a stomach operation ; after leaving intensive care he had complications in his back, in some of his vertebrae and again he underwent another procedure that did not have the best results.

The sports journalist had to frequently go to the hospital for check-ups. During one of these visits, he fell ill with pneumonia and a bacteria made it difficult for him to get out. This meant that he could not attend the 2022 World Cup in Qatar , when he was still working for Fox Sports . After his recovery, he joined TUDN .

The generation that grew up with André Marín and Mexican soccer fans were concerned about the journalist’s health when Televisa requested blood donors in June 2024, prior to his undergoing a double lung transplant.
