The highly anticipated clash between WBC interim light heavyweight champion David Benavidez and fellow unbeaten David Morrell Jr. is officially set for February 1, 2025. The fight will headline a Prime Video pay-per-view event at the iconic T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, promising a night of electrifying boxing action.

Benavidez vs. Morrell: A Clash of Rising Titans

David Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) is stepping into the ring on the cusp of a potential super fight against the winner of Artur Beterbiev’s rematch with Dmitry Bivol. While Beterbiev and Bivol navigate their own title disputes, including the IBF’s demand for a mandatory bout with Michael Eifert, Benavidez is taking a significant risk against the dangerous David Morrell Jr.

Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs), a former super middleweight star, has proven himself a formidable force since moving up to light heavyweight. Despite a challenging debut at the weight against Radivoje Kalajdzic, Morrell’s blend of speed, power, and ring IQ makes him a dangerous adversary. The Cuban fighter is eager to derail Benavidez’s perfect record and stake his claim as one of the best in the division.

“This fight is about legacy,” Benavidez said. “Morrell is a skilled fighter, but I’m ready to show the world why I’m the future of boxing.”

Morrell echoed the sentiment, stating, “Benavidez has never faced someone like me. I’m going to prove I belong at the top.”

This fight is already drawing buzz as a potential Fight of the Year candidate, with fans and analysts predicting an all-action showdown between two powerhouses.

Figueroa vs. Fulton II: A Rivalry Renewed

The co-main event will feature a rematch between Brandon Figueroa (25-1-1, 19 KOs) and Stephen Fulton Jr. (22-1, 8 KOs), reigniting one of the sport’s most competitive rivalries. Their first encounter in November 2021 delivered non-stop action, with Fulton narrowly emerging victorious in a majority decision.

Figueroa, now a WBC interim featherweight champion, looks to even the score and avenge his lone career loss. “The first fight was close, but I’ve improved since then. This time, I’m leaving no doubt,” Figueroa said.

Fulton, rebounding from a tough loss to Naoya Inoue in July, remains confident in his ability to prevail again. “I’ve beaten him before, and I’ll do it again. This is my chance to show I’m still one of the best,” Fulton said.

The rematch was initially slated for next month’s Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. card, but the scheduling change has only heightened anticipation for this bout.

A Must-Watch Boxing Event

With the Benavidez-Morrell clash headlining and the Figueroa-Fulton rematch on the undercard, February 1, 2025, is shaping up to be a night to remember. Fans at the T-Mobile Arena and viewers on Prime PPV can expect fireworks as some of boxing’s best collide.
