A Storied Career and Lasting Legacy

Born in Florida and raised in Alabama, Bobby Allison was part of NASCAR’s golden era alongside his brother, Donnie Allison. Together, the two were known for their rivalry with the famed “Alabama Gang” and for thrilling fans with intense competition on the track. Bobby’s achievements include three Daytona 500 wins and the 1983 Winston Cup Championship, which propelled him into NASCAR’s Hall of Fame in 2011.

Tragedy and Triumph

Though Allison’s career was celebrated, it was also shadowed by personal tragedy and serious injuries. In 1988, a horrific crash at Pocono Raceway nearly claimed his life and ended his racing career. Allison also endured the heartbreaking loss of two sons, Clifford and Davey, both promising drivers who died in separate accidents.
