The Iowa State Cyclones continued their dominant run this season, defeating the West Virginia Mountaineers 28-16 on Saturday to extend their unbeaten streak to six games. The victory, led by quarterback Rocco Becht and linebacker Caleb Hansen, solidified Iowa State’s standing as a contender in the Big 12 and marked their first 6-0 start since 1938.

Becht Shines, Cyclones Offense Too Much for WVU

Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht played a pivotal role in the win, passing for 245 yards and two touchdowns. His poise in the pocket and ability to find open receivers, including standout performances from wide receivers and tight ends, kept the West Virginia defense on its heels throughout the game.

The Cyclones’ defense, spearheaded by Caleb Hansen, forced multiple turnovers and made key stops in critical moments. Hansen’s interception in the third quarter swung momentum firmly in Iowa State’s favor, helping to stave off a late rally by the Mountaineers.

West Virginia’s Struggles Continue

Despite a strong showing from quarterback Garrett Greene, who threw for 180 yards and rushed for 55, the Mountaineers were unable to keep up with the Cyclones’ high-powered offense. West Virginia’s defense struggled to contain Iowa State’s passing game, allowing crucial third-down conversions that extended scoring drives. Greene’s efforts were not enough as the Mountaineers’ offense couldn’t overcome Iowa State’s defense when it mattered most.

Cyclones Eye Big 12 Title Run

With the win, Iowa State moves to 6-0, and the Cyclones are in prime position for a run at the Big 12 title. Their remaining schedule includes challenging matchups, but head coach Matt Campbell has the team focused on maintaining their undefeated season. Iowa State’s next game will be another test of their strength as they face in-conference rivals.

West Virginia Looks to Bounce Back

For West Virginia, the loss drops them to 4-3 on the season. The Mountaineers will need to regroup quickly as they face a tough stretch in their schedule. With Garrett Greene showing flashes of potential, head coach Neal Brown remains hopeful the team can turn things around before the season ends.

Fans of both teams will be eagerly following upcoming games to see if Iowa State can continue their historic run and whether West Virginia can bounce back.
