Gillian Anderson recently shared behind-the-scenes selfies from the Prague sets of her new film, White Bird, to celebrate its release in U.S. theaters. The movie, which was shot in Prague and surrounding Czech locations, debuted in over 1,000 theaters across the United States this past weekend. Anderson posted several photos on social media, including a selfie with Czech actor Miroslav Táborský and other images from the film’s sets, as well as pictures of Czech landmarks like Museum Kampa’s rat sculptures and the famous “Piss” fountain by David Černý.

White Bird, a prequel to the 2017 movie Wonder, stars Anderson alongside Helen Mirren. The film follows the story of a young Jewish girl hiding from the Nazis in WWII-era France with the help of a brave boy and his family. Prague and nearby locations, including Kutná Hora, Grabštejn Castle, and Barrandov Studio, stood in for the 1940s French settings.

The film’s journey to release was long, as it faced multiple delays before finally hitting theaters. Originally set for a 2022 release, White Bird was postponed multiple times and premiered at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival in 2023. Despite the delays, it is now receiving attention in the U.S., though no Czech release is currently planned.
