A shooting at Arizona Mills Mall on September 12 caused panic but thankfully resulted in no injuries, according to authorities. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. near Baseline Road and Priest Drive, prompting a swift response from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Jake R. Carruth, was apprehended shortly after the shooting. Authorities confirmed that Carruth opened fire inside the busy shopping center, but no one was harmed. Shoppers and employees were quickly evacuated as law enforcement secured the area.

Investigators are still piecing together the events leading up to the shooting, but as of now, the motive behind Carruth’s actions remains unclear. The mall, a popular shopping destination in Arizona, was placed on lockdown while deputies conducted their initial investigation. Business operations resumed later in the day after the area was deemed safe.

The Sept. 12 shooting adds to growing concerns over public safety in large retail spaces, though quick action by law enforcement helped avoid a tragic outcome at Arizona Mills Mall.
