JD McDonagh has shared a health update after sustaining severe injuries during WWE Raw, confirming he will be sidelined for “a couple of months” due to broken ribs and a punctured lung.
The 34-year-old Irish wrestler, a member of Judgment Day, suffered the injuries during his World Tag Team Championship match on Monday night against the War Raiders. Teaming up with Dominik Mysterio, McDonagh attempted a high-risk springboard moonsault to the outside, targeting Ivar. However, the landing went horribly wrong.
Scary Moment During Raw Match
As McDonagh crashed down, he bounced off the floor and struck the announce table with his neck, causing a momentary loss of movement. Despite the painful impact, he pushed through the match, but he and Mysterio ultimately lost to the War Raiders.
After the show, McDonagh took to social media to address his condition.
“Broke some ribs, punctured a lung… out for a couple months,” he wrote. “That one hurt. I’ll be back.”
Teammates and Fans React
Following the incident, members of Judgment Day and other WWE stars expressed their support. Finn Bálor, who has been a mentor to McDonagh, tweeted, “You’re one of the toughest out there. Rest up and come back stronger.”
Rhea Ripley also reacted, posting an emoji of a fist and heart, signaling her encouragement.
Fans flooded social media with well wishes, praising McDonagh’s resilience and dedication. Some even compared the moment to similar injuries suffered by WWE legends who pushed through painful circumstances.
McDonagh’s WWE Journey
A longtime standout in NXT UK and NXT, McDonagh made his main roster debut in 2023, quickly aligning himself with Judgment Day. His technical style and high-flying abilities have earned him recognition, making his injury a setback for both him and his faction.
The exact recovery timeline remains unclear, but WWE will likely provide updates in the coming weeks. With WrestleMania approaching, it remains to be seen if McDonagh will return in time for a storyline leading up to the company’s biggest event of the year.
For now, the Irish wrestler’s focus will be on rehabilitation and recovery, ensuring he can return to action at full strength.
