Take it from someone who knows a bit about firearms (former military armorer), a shotgun isn't going to do much to a target 2 miles away, unless all the following conditions are met: 1) you're two miles directly above the target shooting down {shotgun is relatively short-range firearm} 2) you're one hell of a shot {two mile hit with a sniper rifle and some experience with it is considered one hell of a shot} 3)the coefficient of friction in air doesn't drastically slow the projectile you've chosen {shot won't cut it, otherwise Cheney would have killed his buddy and not simply peppered him, and even a slug will be slowed significantly by air friction...it'll make you go 'ouch' but not much more} 5) various other factors all line up, including crosswinds, point of impact on target, luck, etc. I'm thinking most likely the hunter kids aren't going to come close to #1, so the rest is moot anyway.<br><br>Still, these 'special' children should be more closely examined by the proper authorities. But the letter says "... in my 11 years at the school..." Sounds to me like it could be a 10th grader, or 11th grader. Or even a faculty/staff member who's been there 11 years. In any case, it's a grim reminder of the sickness that's within and among us. Thanks for shedding light on this kind of venom. The writer sounds like she wants to bring these hateful comments to light. Good for her! And thanks for alerting us to the poison.
