Tom Tancredo Takes the Stage — Assails Iowa’s Spanish Language Newspapers

By admin | 08.11.07 | 1:26 pm

Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo did not produce a video like Mitt Romney did, so they just played a cheesy song along with a short slideshow.

1:20PM Tancredo begins by talking about his experience at the NAACP conference.  He met a cab driver from Cote d’Ivore “who spoke very clear English.”  Despite his language skills, the driver did not believe that Tancredo was running for President.

1:22PM Tancredo’s mother worked at a department store and his father was a meat-packer.  America is a great country.

So far, Tancredo’s speech has not been anti-immigrant.  If anything, he has been showcasing the benefits of legal immigration.

Oh wait.  Spoke too soon.

“Today we print ballots in foreign languages…We print bilingual newspapers in Ottumwa, IA…We are watching the balkanization of America along cultural and linguistic lines.”

1:25PM We are under attack “from jihadism abroad, and multiculturalism at home.”

1:27PM On Iraq, the problem is the rules of engagement.  In a Tancredo administration, the only rule for the troops in Iraq is this: “We Win; You Lose!”

1:30PM Marriage “between ONE man and ONE woman.”  Overturn “abomination” of Roe v. Wade.

1:31PM Tancredo’s favorite movie is Saving Private Ryan

1:32PM Running for President, “Because we are president, because we need a leader…”

“THIS IS OUR CULTURE; FIGHT FOR IT.  THIS IS OUR NATION; TAKE IT BACK!”

Lots of folks in the crowd are standing for Tancredo’s exit.  Perhaps even a surprising number.  Some people who seemed to arrive with other candidates were standing.
