Fight of the century! Mormon Jesus versus Catholic Jesus Oh, pleause, people. I'm sorry to inform you, abotion is a an elective surgical procedure and not a political issue. Don't like abortion, don't get one. Simple as that.

But to imagine that the world's remaining "superpower" is driving itself into the ditch over the fate of fetuses is too cosmically ironic to be funny.

Be that as it may, however it is equally delicious to witness cracks opening in American Christian fundamentalism's wall, vis-a-vis the recent dust up concerning said surgical procedure between life-long Mormon Willard Mitt Romney and recent Catholic convert Sam Brownback at Sunday last's GOP "debate." These two candidates for the nation's highest office might as well be arguing about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin or whose Jesus can lift more weight in the clean and jerk!

Anyway, Mormons and Catholics are sworn enemies. For Catholics Joseph Smith's Latter-Day Saints is a heretical cult, dooming its adherents to Satan's fiery pits. While Mormons know that the reason the Pope in Rome wears those long robes and funny hats is to hide his cloven hooves, forked-tail and devil's horns.

If this is the best the Republican party can do, then I do hope it goes down to flaming defeat in '08 and joins the Mugwumps, Know-Nothings and Free Soilers.
