There likely was nothing nefarious about it. It's quite possible that two different people had the same experience, though it's also quite possible a speech writer cooked this up for one of the candidates. Regardless, I thought it was interesting that it came just a day after we had looked at another Clinton anecdote in her stump speech--the one she took (with approval, of course) from Tom Vilsack. I heard stories about how Americans were still incredibly popular in the Czech regions that had been liberated by the US Army at the end of WWII.<p><br>Seems plausible that both Clinton and Gore could have heard similar stories from different people of Czech descent.
