Clinton Garners Endorsements from 14 Legislators

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign for president announced today that the senator had received endorsements from 14 Democratic state legislators, making her the candidate with more endorsements than any other rivals in her party.

Those endorsing Clinton:

  • Sen. Staci Appel of Ackworth
  • Sen. Dennis Black of Grinnell
  • Sen. Dick Dearden of Des Moines
  • Sen. Bill Dotzler of Waterloo
  • Sen. Gene Fraise of Fort Madison
  • Sen. Wally Horn of Cedar Rapids
  • Sen. Becky Schmitz of Fairfield
  • Sen. Roger Stewart of Preston
  • Rep. Mark Kuhn of Charles City
  • Rep. Vicki Lensing of Iowa City
  • Rep. Mary Mascher of Iowa City
  • Rep. Roger Wendt of Sioux City
  • Rep. Cindy Winckler of Davenport
  • Rep. Paul Bell of Newton

The 14 legislators join three other Democratic lawmakers who have formally endorsed Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and five others who have endorsed Deleware Sen. Joe Biden. Former Sen. John Edwards has the endorsement of one state representative, Kurt Swaim.

    I’m a little surprised by Mark Kuhn I know he was a Gephardt backer, but I thought he would come around to supporting Edwards, who has such a strong rural recovery platform.

    I wonder how many people outside the media pay attention to these endorsements. As much as I respect several of the people on this list, their opinion wouldn’t for one second make me consider caucusing for Clinton.
