King attacks Obama’s upbringing as unpatriotic

By Douglas Burns | 09.04.08 | 4:43 pm

U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, told a GOP crowd in St. Paul, Minn., today that no child should be subjected to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s upbringing, one that the Kiron conservative said made Obama unpatriotic, according to The Quad City Times.

King, who represents western Iowa and is known for making provocative statements, made a speech here asking the Iowa GOP delegation what part of Obama’s upbringing, relationships and education would be appropriate for someone who wanted to be president.

“There is no part of that that I would subject a child, a young man or woman to,” he said. “I don’t think that there’s a nurture there that shows a thread of patriotism or a sense of appreciation of free market capitalism or the destiny of America or what has made this country great,” he said.

Fortunately, no sane person takes seriously anything the anencephalic representative from the radical wrong wing of Iowa has to say. Unfortunately, there seems to be an abundance of like-mindless individuals on our west coast. All the more reason to support mental health parity.

Well stated Regular Joe,King is a Right winged Nutcase. The Bob Barr of Iowa!

What's this? ANOTHER King-hater calling the voters of the 5th District stupid?

    Hey, that's a new one.

I so enjoy watching the liberal Iowa hate journalists expend so much time and energy trying to defeat Steve King. At least I know they're not out robbing convenience stores or molesting children.

Don't rant so loudly, Peggy, you'll disturb everyone there in Charter Oak. Regular Joe's comment was excessive– but far less so than yours about child molestation. You should be a little ashamed of that outburst.

But to return to the subject that began this thread, the fact remains that King's comment was malicious nonsense and nothing more. When King is looking for something provocative to bellow to a partisan crowd, he rarely wastes much thought on whether what he's saying bears any resemblance to the truth.

A good reporter would call Congressman King and ask him to clarify or expand on his comments.

Now excuse me while I draw the curtains, turn out the lights and hide in my closet.

After the smack King talked about my Brothers (and Sisters) in Arms, I thought I was being rather restrained. Regarding his meds, he needs to either halve or double 'em.
