Lehman’s claim that Obama is a Muslim used for Democratic fundraiser

By Jason Hancock | 08.24.10 | 8:00 am

Kim Lehman

The Iowa Democratic Party is including Republican National Committee member Kim Lehman’s statements about her belief the President Barack Obama is a secret Muslim in a new fundraising e-mail sent out Monday.

As first reported by the blog Bleeding Heartland, Lehman said on her Twitter account last week that a speech the president gave in Cairo was proof that he was a Muslim and not a Christian. In interviews with the Huffington Post and The Des Moines Register, Lehman reiterated her belief in the conspiracy theory.

In the new IDP fundraiser, Lehman’s assertions are coupled with U.S. Rep. Steve King‘s statement that the president is a “Marxist,” Iowa House candidate Jeremy Walter‘s statements that AIDS is a punishment from God for homosexuality and Iowa Senate candidate Dave Leach‘s statement that his openly-gay opponent is “Iowa’s chief sodomite.”

“The GOP’s new distract and offend strategy has no place in Iowa, a state that has always valued open and honest debate, but it is unfortunately taking over their side of the aisle,” IDP Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky said in the e-mail, later adding: “At the end of the day this incendiary rhetoric doesn’t help Iowa. Every week another Iowa Republican makes a statement that is an embarrassment on a national level. Meanwhile our Democratic candidates have a vision for a better Iowa and are working to make it a reality.”

A spokesperson for Republican Party of Iowa chairman and RNC member Matt Strawn did not respond to a request for comment about Lehman’s statements.

If being a Muslim is believing in the Muslim worldview then I submit no one but God knows what Obama believes in his heart. I do have eyes and ears and his actions could indicate a secret empathy towards that “religion”. But I'm guessing, that like most politicians, any religion he openly avows is a marriage of convenience. He believes in himself, gaining and keeping power and impressing the world audience with how “progressive” he is. He craves a legacy in other words but not necessarily with Americans who he has a rather low opinion of. I personally don't think he is even patriotic. I guess that’s not that unusual anyway in liberal circles.

Matt Strawn the chair of the republican party of Iowa sold him self out and rebuke candidate Jeremy Walters. For the support of one-Iowa the biggest gay activists in Iowa. But Matt Strawn can't sell him self out and rebuke Kim Lehman’s statements or Iowa Senate candidate Dave Leach’s statement. What is wrong with this pic. See that Mat Strawn doesn't like candidate Jeremy Walters cause he is for the People and he wants feedom and the government to stop running our lives. Plus Jeremy walters has made a Big impact on the Republican party by letting them to support all candidate's that is running for office. The Republican party of Iowa does not want to support any candidate's running against incubents. So the Republican party of Iowa is Scared of candidate Jeremy Walters for standing up for our rights.

Ms. Lehman could probably get a job on just about any GOP campaign, for she certainly has the credentials needed – an ultra-Right Wing extremist with such outrageous oral spewings one can scarcely believe they are actually being said.

How sad for our country. Nearly 20 months of egregious obstructionist behavior, and no platform – no alternatives to challenge the Administration's actions. The hearts and minds of the GOP are so severely filled with hate one can understand why there is zero production from the Party. With Iowa's best political product in the form of Steve King (a very irrational extremist), it is little wonder the ridiculous rantings of Ms. Lehman come forth.

Wow! Is it really 2010? Seems like 1950s in the Deep South!

He has proven beyond all doubt that he is Muslim. Read his Cairo Speech June 4, 2009 :
    Grew up Muslim:
“my father came from a Kenyan family that includes generations of Muslims. As a boy, I spent several years in Indonesia and heard the call of the azaan at the break of dawn and at the fall of dusk. As a young man, I worked in Chicago communities where many found dignity and peace in their Muslim faith.”

Vowed to Protect Islamic faith with his Powers:
“I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear”. (Applause.)

    He kept that Promise:
“But let me be clear. As a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country. And that includes the right to build a place of worship …This is America. And our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable. The principle that people of all faiths are welcome in this country and that they will not be treated differently by their government…

This is America's Government but he is Protectingi the ideology of Islamic Muslims not Americans. The NY Americans are still grieving and hurting from ground zero,9/11 he nor the Islamic Muslims have the right to cause further injury and damage and mental anguish to the Americans.
