After 5 months, King’s taxpayer-funded web site still features Obama slur

By admin | 08.05.08 | 7:05 am

Almost five months ago, U.S. Rep. Steve King said in a Spencer, Iowa radio interview that if Sen. Barack Obama wins the presidential election, “the radical Islamists, the al-Qa’ida and the radical Islamists and their supporters will be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11th.”

MSNBC host Keith Olbermann named King the “Worst Person in the World.”  The Iowa Civil Rights Commission considered action.  Gov. Chet Culver told the Iowa Independent that King should retract the statement.

So logically, Congressman King posted what he said on his congressional web site, which is paid for by taxpayers.  The entire statement is still there.

Generally, such overtly partisan rhetoric is reserved for campaign web sites rather than congressional web sites, because taxpayer money is not supposed to pay for campaign activities like this.  The Iowa Independent first brought you this story in March.

Too bad! It looks like Doug Burns’ one-man mission to unseat Congressman King has failed yet again.

Really, people, if I see the word optics in quotes by itself one more time as supposed proof that Steve King was talking about the color of Barack Hussein Obama’s skin, I’m going to hurl.

Can you say ‘grasping at straws’?
