An Iowa grain dealer has had its license temporarily suspended by state officials.
The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s Grain Warehouse Bureau has temporarily suspended the grain dealer and warehouse licenses for the Corning-based dealer Feeders Grain LLC.
In a news release sent to reporters Wednesday, the department stated the suspension is based upon information filed by the Grain Warehouse Bureau, and a revocation hearing will be set.
IDALS spokesman Dustin Vande Hoef said that he could not elaborate on the specifics of the case, but he explained that the Grain Warehouse Bureau’s mission is “to ensure that grain dealers’ books add up, and to ensure that they have the grain that they claim to have.” He said that the Grain Warehouse Bureau enforces protective measures to ensure that grain dealers do not have problems with their accounting.
