Twitter parody labels Steve King ‘Shaitan The Risen’

By Jason Hancock | 03.16.10 | 12:30 pm

U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Kiron, has never been one to shy away from controversial statements, a trait that followed him to Iowa’s political Twitterverse. His Twitter account of a run in with a “crazy raccoon” got him in hot water with animal-rights group PETA, and his latest Tweet called the process Democrats are using to pass health care reform “macabre.”

So it should come as no surprise that some were fooled when earlier this month another Twitter account, named “King for Congress,” popped up promising to share the Iowa Republican’s thoughts on the world. A few Iowa politicos truly believed it was King unfiltered, since it does look exactly like a legitimate campaign account with photos and a link to King’s Web site.  But as it turns out the new feed was a satirical take on the congressman’s controversial style, a sort of 21st Century parody.

Take, for instance, Rep. King’s March 5 post:

Or, how about this one from March 11:

Or my personal favorite, from Monday:Picture 3
