GOP challenger emerges in SD 21

By Jason Hancock | 03.02.10 | 7:55 am

Republican Wes Enos has formally entered the race to unseat four-term incumbent Democratic state Sen. Dennis Black of Newton in district 21.

Enos is a member of the Republican Party of Iowa State Central Committee and was Iowa political director for Mike Huckabee’s successful caucus campaign in 2008. He also ran Peter Teahen’s failed Congressional bid in the 2nd District. In 2006, Enos ran and lost in the race for a seat on the Polk County Board of Supervisors.

Black, who served in the Iowa House for 12 years before running for state Senate, was re-elected in 2006 by a 13 percentage point margin.
