It is clear from this article that the intent of CRL is to actually put anyone out of business forever who ever was a payday lender. However, because we have the knowledge of what has happened in other states, it is painfully obvious to see that these types of groups can't be trusted. When these payday companies couldn't make a profit (the reason why businesses operate in America), they began offering other legal credit product that were not under attack by CRL before they began offering them. One can't fault a business for changing their business model in response to attacks. That's responsible not deceitful.

The term “predatory lending” is often used incorrectly to describe payday advances. The definition of “predatory lending” is unclear, but even when looking at the range of definitions available, payday loans do not meet the criteria of so-called predatory lending. “Defining and Detecting Predatory Lending,” a study by Donald P. Morgan, Research Officer, Federal Reserve Bank of New York, concludes that payday loans do not fit the definition of predatory because they are not a “welfare reducing” form of credit. To the contrary, the author suggests that payday lenders enhance the welfare of households by increasing the supply of credit.

Payday lenders and employees work and pay taxes like everyone else. By capping their fees so low, they can't stay in business. The payday industry wouldn't be operating unless there was a demand for this kind of short-term credit. People need this service to get by when unexpected expenses pop up. Let's not cause them to shut down and take away from consumers one of the most affordable credit options out there today.
