Understand the full consequence of endorsing John McCain Iowa college democrats need to understand the full consequence of endorsing a candidate who is the exact opposite on many issues they consider important to them from the war in Iraq, civil liberties, the high cost of attending college today, a woman's right to choice and the nomination of at least two new supreme court justices over the next 4 years. Issues such as these are too important to throw away because of hurt feelings from the long Democratic primary season. We must support a candidate who is right on the issues not a candidate who is exactly opposite on the issues we hold so dearly. Senator Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama agreed on at least 95% of the major issues affecting America today. I urge my fellow college Democrats to vote for Senator Obama in November. Divided we will fall. Together we can make a real difference.

John McCain no friend of rural Iowa John McCain put very little effort in the Iowa Caucuses in 2007. McCain refused to participate in the Iowa Republican Party Straw Poll in Ames last August and only put a half hearted effort in Iowa's first in the nation caucus on January 3rd, placing a weak 4th place behind Fred Thompson last January.

During John McCain's recent visit to Iowa on May 6th he slammed the Farm Bill and said he'd veto the legislation at the time of his visit. The Farm Bill passed overwhelmingly through both chambers of Congress (81-15) on May 15, 2008 with bipartisan support (both Iowa Senators Tom Harkin and Chuck Grassley supported the Farm Bill). In addition, McCain has repeatedly stated over the last year that he opposes Ethanol subsidies. It's hard to believe that rural voters in Iowa would be supportive of his candidacy. You can't trash ethanol and oppose the Farm Bill and expect to win in Iowa.
