Patrick Bertroche has filed paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission forming a campaign committee in the 3rd District Republican primary.
Bertroche, a doctor from Urbandale, plans to formally announce his campaign Friday at E. 14th Street and Euclid Avenue in Des Moines near a closed Younkers department store in order to illustrate “the need for better infrastructure and job growth that Iowa needs for a better economy.”
Bertroche joins former Iowa State University wrestling coach Jim Gibbons, former pilot Dave Funk, retired architect Mark Rees and state Sen. Brad Zaun in a crowded Republican primary hoping to unseat incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell of Des Moines.
Bertroche has also launched a Web site, www.bertroche4congress.com.
