Obama Delegate for District 5 I completely agree with Sandi from District 4! :) I also switched from Republican to Democrat to stand for Obama and was a delegate at the District 5 Convention Saturday. However, the strategy was different for our district. The Obama group elected people to leave and stand for Edwards to support him to allow him to keep 1 delegate vs. having the Edwards people giving another delegate to Hillary. :) It worked out in the end to do it that way so I wonder if those strategies were also used in the other districts? I'd like to see Obama run with Edwards personally! :)

*~Toni~*

I was there at District 4 I was there at the Dist 4 convention and can say you are totally correct about the "deal" trying to be worked out with Edwards delegates with that "other" campaign. I am new to the Democratic Party (as of Jan when I caucused for Obama having voted Republican for 25 yrs)and when I heard of the deal being offered (to give the 52 Edwards Delegates the needed amount of people from the Clinton delegate for a total of 76 to be viable ONLY if that group elected one of those Clinton Delegates as the National Delegate for Edwards...DUH! That sounded so dirty and dumb) HOWEVER when the Edwards delegates passed on that and came marching down(40 out of 52) the isle for Obama, my faith in the fairness of politics was restored! It was so emotional as they came marching down and we were cheering and even some crying and hugging!! OH IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL THING! Here are my photos of the day and YES I agree you dont lose something you never had. It's just spin, but in the end OBAMA HAD A HELLUVA DAY AND THAT CAN'T BE DISPUTED!!!!! Oh, and in our district, the credentials person said in their HISTORY of Dist 4 never has every delegate seat been seated (507) with left over alternate delegates! I was proud to be there and I am proud to be with OBAMA!!!

Link to photos http://picasaweb.goo...

Sandi4Obama Dist 4 Delegate!!

Well, then... the projections were wrong. I know it seems silly to say "we're right and everybody else was wrong," but a more fair projection would have listed three seats as in question. (But thanks for the link.)

Obama campaign: We lost a delegate John

I certainly understand your point-of-view about whether Obama gained or lost a delegate on Saturday. But be careful who you accuse of "not understanding Iowa's caucus and convention process".

The Obama delegate site itself, as of 4/23, shows Obama with 25 pledged delegates out of Iowa. When they update it, it will show Obama with 24 delegates. So the Obama campaign agrees with 2008 Democratic Convention Watch, MyDD, Green Papers, CBS, AP, CNN, and NBC. Obama lost a projected national delegate in Iowa.

Matt - 2008 Democratic Convention Watch
