Harkin's position sounds like the right one to me. Nobody but the government can protect the freedom of minorities (e.g. pregnant women) from the tyranny of the majority. Regardless of whether a "majority" of Americans are opposed to abortion, abortion is legal under American law. Penalizing women who exercise that legal freedom is not freedom at all. Sen.
