It’s not too late to sign up to learn about lobbying and state government during an event geared for minorities and women.“One Iowa Day: Celebrating the Diversity of Iowa” will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday. The event will help participants understand more about lobbying and state government. Registration will be at the Wallace State Office Building. The event includes lunch at the state Capitol followed by a tour. About 100 people are expected. Gov. Chet Culver will welcome participants.
“It’s an opportunity basically for the Culver/Judge administration to help people who really aren’t familiar with the political process, like first-timers, and in particular women and ethnic minorities, to just become more familiar with the capitol, what takes place at the capitol and lobbying,” said Courtney Greene, Culver’s press secretary.

“People are encouraged to come and participate,” Greene said.
