The place gives you a profound sense of exhilaration, joy and deep, deep sadness simultaneously. It's a profound experience to meet people who by our standards have literally nothing... who live in lean-to ramshackle housing open to the elements, shelter that we wouldn't let a dog live in... and yet who sometimes give you a smile that exudes a unique and indescribable kind of warmth... these very poor people have something we don't, something we've lost... and I for one would welcome them to this country. <br><br>To think that there are thousands of people in this country who believe we should shoot anyone coming across our Southern border... to think we allow these beliefs to spread without rising up and speaking out... <br><br>We spread this myth of "Give me your tired, your hungry masses yearning to be free" and then we arrest those who respond - and not only deport them but SEND THEM TO JAIL FOR FIVE MONTHS FIRST!<br><br>What in God's name is wrong with us?
