New York Senator and former first lady Hillary Clinton displayed her microphone skills earlier this week at a campaign event in the gymnasium of Tilford Middle School in Vinton, Ia.
The event began with a plea for caucus votes from former Iowa first lady Christie Vilsack, wife of former Iowa governor and one-time presidential candidate Tom Vilsack.
Afterwards, Dandekar spoke with the Iowa Independent about her view of Clinton’s experience as first lady. Dandekar has been a Clinton supporter for several months.

During her speech on Monday, Clinton said, “I want to get back to a bipartisan foreign policy where all Americans are united on behalf of our country in dealing with the rest of the world.” Later, in a reference to sitting president George W. Bush, Clinton told the crowd that she wanted to send a message to the rest of the world that “the era of cowboy diplomacy is over.”

Following her speech, Clinton took several questions from the audience on a wide variety of topics, including: pollution and deforestation, Afghanistan poppy farmers, closing Guantanamo, NASA space programs, and military spending.
