It would not have worked out well. During both the interracial marriage ban rulings and the school segregation rulings by the US Supreme Court, public opinion was overwhelmingly against equality. Within decades, we viewed such ignorance and intolerance as shameful. It's just a question of whether or not you want to think for yourself and follow in Christ's footsteps on civil rights, or if you want to use the christian faith in vain.

Just remember - W.W.J.D. (Who would Jesus demonize)? Great question, indeed.

Not likely. I'm sure Mr Steve just soaks in his white, heterosexual, christian privilege each and every day, without a care in the world for what it means to have the rights that he does. He's in such a hurry to judge and demonize others, that he forgets that by his very actions turning into public policy, he is allowing the same thing to happen to him. The story of the lemmings is a sad one, indeed.

I know. Just like all the other times that Iowa was progressive in it's court decisions, the people didn't like it, and people freaked out. Then those people ended up being shamed by history as they stood on the wrong side of it. Good luck with that, Steve!

>> Put it to the voters with all alacrity!

The protection of a minority does NOT require the consent of the majority. Had desegregation been put to the voters of Mississippi, how do you think that would have worked out?
