Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, released a draft of his proposed 2007 Farm Bill this afternoon. The draft bill may be viewed on the agriculture committee's website here.
The agriculture committee will convene at 8:30 a.m. Iowa time tomorrow to formally vote on each of the 10 titles in the proposed bill.
Members of the agriculture committee will have the opportunity to offer amendments during this process, called the formal "mark-up" of the bill. Once the bill is passed by the committee, it will go to the full U.S. Senate where it may be further amended before final approval.
